You are now the best friend.
Your name is Karkat Vantas, and you're starting to get worried; Nepeta and Equius have been gone for almost an hour now. Did something happen? You let out a sigh. If you want something done you have to do it yourself. Mostly because the rest of the trolls are the biggest idiots you know. You pull a jacket on over your turtleneck and head outside. The wind chills you to the bone as you walk.
You arrive at Gamzee's hive. The door is wide open and is swinging on its hinges. You cringe. Gamzee never leaves his door open.
You hesitate. You could always ditch and ask someone else. But......for some reason, absconding didn't seem like the right thing to do. Besides, you're already here. You tell yourself to quit being such a pussy and walk in.
"......Gamzee?" There's no answer. Your voice seems to echo a bit in the seemingly empty house. You look around somewhat nervously and timidly step deeper into the hive. "Nepeta? Equius?"
Still nothing. You look around for signs of life. Somewhere in the hive, you hear whimpering. The sound reminds you of something dying. You follow the sound and into a different room-then stop dead. No pun intended.
Nepeta and Equius are both lying on the floor in bloody heaps. And your morail's huddled in a corner bawling his eyes out.
Well, fuck.
You hop over Nepeta and Equius and sit down on your knees in front of him. "Holy shit, Gam," You breathe. "What the fuck happened?"
He doesn't answer you, just pulls you into a suffocatingly tight hug, and sobs into your shoulder. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so fuckin' sorry, I didn't mean to, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! She wouldn't go and I just lost it! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" You pull away slightly and rest your cool hands on his too-hot face. He seems to calm down a little at this. You pat his face and stroke it gently, softly cooing sweet nothings under your breath.
"Shhhh. It wasn't your fault." You soothe. He hiccups a few times and sniffs hard. "B-But.....Nep......a-and Equius......" You continue to pat his face until he's relatively calmed down. Then you hug him again. "What happened?"
He sniffles and looks at you with a pained expression. "They......T-They came and....I wanted them to leave, but they ignored me.....and Nepeta....S-She wouldn't go. I was begging her just to leave me alone, but she wouldn't, and she got too close, a-and...." You brush a few more tears away from his face and wait for him to continue. He holds onto you tightly. "I-I'm a fuckin' monster....She didn't mean any harm, and I fuckin' killed her, for no fuckin' reason!"
He cried, starting to get agitated. You shoosh him a few times before he slumps back again.
"You're not a monster......you're my best friend." You hesitate a moment before leaning forward and pressing a soft kiss to his lips.
